At the invitation of the World Bank Group's Center for Financial Reporting Reform, SARAS representatives participated in the 2025 Ministerial Conference: Financial Sustainability Reporting Reforms - Navigating the Green and Digital Agenda, which took place from 17 to 19 March 2025 in Vienna, Austria. The event was hosted by the Austrian Ministry of Finance.
The three-day conference featured a variety of topics and formats, including discussions on key aspects of corporate sustainability reporting reform, the impact of digital transformation and artificial intelligence on financial reporting, as well as a ministerial session and a panel discussion.
One of the panel speakers was the head of SARAS, David Mchedlidze, who spoke about the role of the Best Annual Report and Transparency Award (BARTA) in Georgia. He highlighted how the competition has had a positive impact on corporate awareness and the country's image. On the one hand, it has helped to highlight the benefits of transparency and accountability, and on the other, it has demonstrated to international partners that Georgia is well prepared to deal effectively with modern challenges.
In addition, SARAS representatives discussed with participants Georgia's experience with accounting reforms, the practical aspects of implementing new regulatory requirements and the challenges involved. They also exchanged views with international experts. The event provided a platform to share best practices and discuss existing global challenges.
In particular, as the European Union continues to shape its policy and drive technological change, this conference served as a valuable opportunity for SARAS representatives to enhance their skills and familiarize themselves with new international standards.
