SARAS is largely responsible for State Oversight and Development of Accounting, Reporting and Auditing in Georgia.

The key functions of SARAS include:

- Administering the State Register of auditors/audit firms;
- Administering the Registry of entities’ financial and management statements;
- Implementing the financial reporting and auditing standards;
- Performing quality control system monitoring with respect to audit services;
- Recognition and monitoring of certification programs, examination processes and continuous education courses.
