On 16-18 April this year, the annual plenary meeting of the International Forum of Independent Audit Regulators (IFIAR) was hosted by the Japan Financial Services Agency (FSA) / Certified Public Accountants and Audit Oversight Board (CPAAOB) in Osaka. The event was attended by the Head of SARAS and representatives of the relevant Department, together with representatives of oversight bodies from various countries around the world.
IFIAR holds annual plenary meetings for representatives of member countries to review oversight issues, challenges facing the audit profession, and strategic approaches needed to achieve sustainable audit quality. At the event, participants are introduced to best practices in the above areas.
The plenary session discussed key audit oversight issues such as audit firm governance, technology in audit and assurance transactions related to corporate sustainability. The event also included workshop sessions with the heads of six of the world's largest audit networks and the Investor and Other Stakeholders Working Group (IOSWG).
This event is a valuable platform for the field representatives from around the world to exchange experiences with representatives of other regulators and global audit firms, to engage in thematic discussions, to learn about important innovations in the field and to share best practices.
