By organizing an annual event for members of audit committees and supervisory boards, SARAS aims to create an environment conducive to the effective functioning of audit committees and to provide them with effective advice in line with best international practices. This will help them to better supervise the activities of external and internal auditors.
The event was led by SARAS staff from the Department of Auditing and Professional Education Supervision and invited experts.
The meeting discussed recommendations for the development of audit committees in Georgia. Speakers informed members of audit committees and supervisory boards with information on topics such as sustainability reporting and the increased role of audit committees, the audit committee's assessment of internal audit, a new system of evaluating auditors based on monitoring results, international practice of relations between audit regulators and audit committees. The initiative group also presented the initiative to create an association of audit committee members, the requirements for joining the association and the expected benefits of membership.
SARAS continues to work actively with its partners to promote the effective functioning of audit committees.
