On 29 June, representatives of the Service for Accounting, Reporting and Auditing Supervision of the Ministry of Finance of Georgia (SARAS) had a working visit to Brussels for the 8th session of the 2nd Thematic Group of the Sub-Committee on Economic and Sectoral Cooperation of the Georgia-EU Association - Industrial and Enterprise Policy and Mining Activities; Tourism; Industrial and Enterprise Policy; Corporate Law and Corporate Governance; Consumer Policy; Tax Policy.
The purpose of the meeting was to assess the fulfilment of Georgia’s obligations under the Association Agreement and the Association Agenda in the above-mentioned areas over the past year.
During the meeting, SARAS representatives informed the EU side on the progress of the accounting, reporting and auditing reform, discussed the steps taken to promote the fight against money laundering and terrorism financing, as well as the results achieved in 2022, and focused on the main challenges for 2023.
The EU-Georgia Sectoral Cooperation Committee positively evaluated the implementation of the commitments undertaken by SARAS and the existing cooperation between Georgia and the European Union in the framework of the Association Agreement.
