On January 31, SARAS held a second information meeting for accountants on: “Legislative Amendments to Facilitating the Prevention of Money Laundering and Terrorism Financing”. The event was intended for accountants and accounting firms providing professional services.
The head of SARAS, Davit Mchedlidze, opened the event and talked about the importance of the legislation against money laundering. Representatives of SARAS discussed the current legislative amendments at the meeting. In particular, they reviewed amendments to the “Law of Georgia on Accounting, Reporting and Auditing” and the “Law of Georgia on Facilitating the Prevention of Money Laundering and Terrorism Financing” made on December 1, 2022. In addition, representatives of SARAS discussed the future expectations of supervision, and answered the audience’s questions in the final part of the meeting.
It is noteworthy that based on its importance, SARAS will publish FAQs on the website when necessary. The FAQs will include the most relevant issues related to the topic for interested parties.
