On June 17, the 6th meeting of the 2nd Thematic Group of the EU-Georgia Association Agreement Sub-committee on economic and sector integration – “Industrial and enterprise policy and mining; tourism; company law and corporate governance; consumer policy; taxation” was organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia via video-conference.
Representatives of the European Commission External Action Service and the EU Delegation to Georgia participated in the meeting from the EU side. As for the Georgian side, there were representatives of the SARAS, the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development, the Ministry of Finance of Georgia, the Ministry of Justice of Georgia, Parliament of Georgia, the Georgian National Tourism Administration, the Agency - “Enterprise Georgia”, Innovation and Technology Agency, the National Agency of Mines and the Competition Agency of Georgia.
At the meeting, a positive assessment was given to the reforms implemented by Georgia in terms of approximation with the EU legislation in line with the Association Agreement, both in terms of legislative and institutional compatibility. Successful ongoing cooperation in the areas of accounting and reporting, mining, tourism, customs, industrial and enterprise policy was especially noted.
It is remarkable that the meeting of the 2nd Thematic Group of the EU-Georgia Association Agreement Sub-committee on economic and sector integration is held once a year and aims at assessing Georgia's progress towards sectoral integration with the European Union.
