On July 25-26, 2019 the Service for Accounting, Reporting and Auditing Supervision of the Ministry of Finance of Georgia participated in the International Scientific-Practical Conference organized by Caucasus University on the topic "Increased Transparency and Access to Financial Information: New Opportunities for the Academic Sector and Other Stakeholders."
At the conference, the SARAS representative discussed about the ongoing reporting reform, its challenges and achievements.
Among the International Conference speakers should be noted Jacques Potdevin (President of National Reforms Support Foundation in Accounting, Reporting and Auditing, member of the Nominating Committee of IFAC), Mr. Paul Thompson (Director at European Federation for Accountants and Auditors for SMEs (EFAA)), Mr. Erik Vermeulen (Professor of Business and Financial Law at Tilburg University, the World Bank’s transparency and accountability expert advisor) and Mr. Jochen Zimmermann (Professor of Accounting at the University of Bremen), who spoke about global tendencies, integrated reporting, the importance of transparency and the perspectives of data usage.
Part of the conference was dedicated to the local speakers’, including students' advance assessments of reforms and various aspects of reporting area research.
The support organizations were - Shota Rustaveli National Science Foundation of Georgia and National Reforms Support Foundation.
