On 9th of August, 2018, on initiative of SARAS and with support of the Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti office of Georgian Chamber of Commerce and industry, presentations aiming to raise awareness of the accounting and reporting reform were held for entities operating in the region and their auditors.
Representatives of SARAS, World Bank, European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, the USAID grantee for IFRS for SMEs implementation program held the presentations. The speakers spoke about requirements of the Law of Georgia ‘On Accounting, Reporting and Audit` and ongoing accounting and reporting reform. The event aimed to discuss the nature of IFRS for SMEs and measures planned within the frames of its implementation program. It also covered the peculiarities of management reporting and best international practice in this area. Representatives of the World Bank reviewed the achievements of the reform, current condition and perspectives of the supporting program. Representatives of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development introduced the audience to the project concerning assurance of the financial statements and management report preparation. During the events, representatives of the SARAS demonstrated the process of presentation of financial statements.
The final part of the event was dedicated to the question-answer session. The audience was given the opportunity to raise issues of their interest and get relevant answers.
