The workshop organized by the Service for Accounting, Reporting and Auditing Supervision in partnership with the World Bank Centre for Financial Reporting Reform (CFRR) held on 7 May 2018 at Ministry of Finance of Georgia.
The event was held within the STAREP (Strengthening Auditing and Reporting in the Countries of the Eastern Partnership) program and aiming to discuss current issues regarding IFRS and IFRS for SMEs.
The member of the International Accounting Standards board (IASB) Darrel Scott came to Georgia for the first time. Darrel Scott introduced important issues regarding international standards to the audience and held a workshop on International Standards (IFRS, IFRS for SMEs).
Short bio: Darrel Scott is a member of the International Accounting Standards Board (IASB) from 2010. He is a Board Advisor on Insurance, Impairment, Lease and Macro Hedging Project. From 2013, Darrel is the Chairman of IFRS Standard Group of the Board and has been actively involved in the process of reviewing standards and issuing the manuals published by the Board for Micro Enterprises. Until 2013 he was a member of the International Financial Reporting Interpretations Committee (IFRIC) and of the International Financial Reporting Standards Advisory Board (IFRS Advisory Council).
The event was attended by more than 200 specialists, trainers and auditors working with the IFRS standards. The attendants were able to hear reports about the important matters, as well as ask questions about the issues they were interested in.
